In Japan, the attitudes towards alcoholic drinks are undergoing several changes, which has led companies to seek new ways to attract consumers. In 2019, Asahi Breweries and Kirin Brewery emerged as the leaders in the alcoholic drinks segment. However, they witnessed a decline in 2020, owing to the growing consumer inclination towards RTDs. This shift is mainly on account of RTDs being affordable and trendy alternatives.
Furthermore, several consumers have stopped consuming alcohol altogether, which has encouraged producers to launch products with lower alcoholic content or are non-alcoholic in various categories, including beer, wine, and RTDs.
