It is clinically used to treat gastric acid-related diseases such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and erosive reflux esophagitis (ERD). Its product, NEXIUM was developed by AstraZeneca AB. Esomeprazole was approved in China in 2007. By 2020, in addition to AstraZeneca AB, there are more than 10 generic drug manufacturers in the Chinese Esomeprazole market, such as Chia Tai Tianqing Pharmaceutical Group Co., Ltd., Jiangsu Aosaikang Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. and Chongqing Lummy Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd.
