PH neutralizers, anti-foaming agents, coagulants, and flocculants are the four major types of chemicals used in wastewater treatment. PH neutralizers are the most straightforward class of chemicals, but when and how they are used varies depending on the wastewater production process. Wastewater effluent flowing through the sewage system should basically not be either too acidic or too simple (ideally absolutely pH 7 neutral) since this will help to avoid harmful chemical reactions when another effluent is combined with wastewater.
